The North Texas Angel Network (NTAN), an accredited angel investor membership organization, has launched a virtual membership option for accredited investors who reside outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and would like to participate in deal flow through NTAN.
“A silver lining of the COVID pandemic is the increased interest and ability for individuals and organizations to work and socialize remotely. Like many organizations, we began hosting virtual meetings in 2020 and have continued with a hybrid format based on member demand,” says Jeff Murphy, NTAN executive director. “Beyond serving our local membership during the pandemic, we were able to have investors participate from other states – and even other countries. After noticing this uptick and continued interest, we’ve created a membership format to better align with the needs of a virtual member.”
NTAN’s virtual members can join meetings via Zoom. They may participate in the monthly entrepreneur pitch meetings, which are held in-person locally and feature up to five pre-screened investment presentations. They also are able to join the monthly, virtual screening committee calls to assess the applicants seeking funding that month.
“Regardless of their location or where they reside, active angel investors are interested in strong deal flow and collaborate frequently with other fellow angel investors,” adds Ichan Stall, NTAN board member. “With our 15-year track record, we’ve continued to serve as a hub for both accredited investors seeking deals and startups seeking funding. We’re excited to expand our format more formally with this virtual membership.”
As with the traditional membership, virtual members receive access to the startup database, due diligence notes, and meeting presentations via Dealum, a member and entrepreneur portal that allows angel organizations to collaborate on potential startup investments. Members also have reciprocal membership with the Angel Capital Association.
As this membership type will not participate in various social networking aspects, the membership is offered at a discounted rate. Accredited investors interested in learning more about NTAN and the virtual membership may visit www.northtexasangels.org.
